  • 3d Model Libraries - .3dm or .zip containing various 3dm files
  • Advanced Display Mode - .ini
    • Export from Rhino
      • Mac - Go to Preferences > Display Modes. Select the display mode to export, and click on the gear icon. Select "Export 'Display Mode Name' display mode" and save the .ini file.
      • Windows - Go to Tools > Options > View > Display Modes. Select the display mode to export and click on the Export button. Choose a name and a path and save the file.
    • Import to Rhino
      • Mac - Go to Rhino > Preferences > Display Modes. Click on the gear icon and select "Import display mode". Select the .ini file you wish to import.
      • Windows - Go to Tools > Options > View > Display Modes and click the Import button. Select the .ini file you wish to import.
  • Environment - .renv
    • Export from Rhino
      • Mac and Windows - Bring up the Environments panel. Right click on the Environment you wish to export and select "Save to File...". Save the .renv file.
    • Import to Rhino
      • Mac and Windows - Bring up the Environments panel. Click on the menu button and select "Import from Environment Library..." and select the .renv file you wish to import.
  • Grasshopper Definition - .gh (Grasshopper Binary), .ghx (Grasshopper XML), .ghz (Grasshopper 2 Document)
  • Hatch Patterns - .pat
    • Export from Rhino - There is no export functionality for hatch files built into Rhino. See this article for more information about creating custom hatch files.
    • Import to Rhino
      • Mac: Go to File > Settings > Hatch and click the Import button. Locate the .pat file you want to import.
      • Windows - Go to Options > Hatch and click the Import button. Locate the .pat file you want to import.

  • Materials - .rmtl for Rhino. For other material types (sbsar, armaterial, vismat, mxm), please review Brazil, Flamingo, Maxwell or V-Ray documentation.
    • Export from Rhino
      • Mac and Windows: Go to the Materials panel, select the material you want to export, right-click and select Save to File...
    • Import to Rhino
      • Mac and Windows: Go to the Materials panel and click on the menu button. Select Import from Material Library...
  • Scripts (Python and RhinoScript) - .py, .rvb
  • Textures
    • Export from Rhino (Mac and Windows) - Go to the Textures panel, select the texture you would like to export and right-click. Select Save to file and save the file.

    • Import to Rhino (Mac and Windows) - Go to the Textures panel and click on the menu button. Click on Import from Texture Library and locate the file you want to import.
  • Toolbar - .rui
    • Export from Rhino
      • Windows: Go to Tools > Options > Rhino Options > Toolbars > File > Save As. Locate the .rui file you want to export.
    • Import to Rhino
      • Windows: Go to Tools > Options > Rhino Options > Toolbars > File > Open. Locate the .rui file you want to import.
