Project Oxpecker is a predictive environment simulation method aimed at predicting daylight hours and incident radiation on complex 3D geometries. The plugin focuses on reducing computation time for environmental simulations while maintaining reasonable accuracy. This tool significantly accelerates the process compared to traditional simulations. It is particularly beneficial for computationally intensive tasks like genetic optimization and similar processes during the early design stages, where geometries frequently change and require less computational power.
The plugin is currently in its research & development phase, with only the beta version released. The beta version currently works for the annual analysis period for Barcelona, and it will eventually support global analysis with upcoming updates.
