OrcaStruct Lab: Structural Optimization and Research for Concrete Analysis
- A series of componentes to generate 2D trusses are made available for Grasshopper users: Howe, Pratt, Warren, K, Fink, Vierendeel.
- A suite of applications for fiber reinforced concrete (FRC) modeling is made available.
The tools were developed aiming to predict the DEWS post-cracking behavior. The components were developed under a research project, and the results are published in the scientific paper Construction and Building Materials: "3D DEWS Digital Parametric Modeling and Manufacturing for Obtaining the Post-Cracking Parameters of SFRC (2024)". https://doi.org/10.1016/j.conbuildmat.2024.136326
The tools included:
- Cluster to create a 3D parametric DEWS model;
- Cluster to create a 3D parametric WST model;
- Cluster to create a 3D parametric notched beam;
- Cluster to generate 3D fibers in Breps taking into account fibers random distribution and orientation;
- Cluster to include the wall effect (boundary conditions);
- Cluster to identify the fracture plane (ligament surface);
- Cluster to identify the fibers intersecting the fracture plane (ligament), split the fibers, project them onto a 2D plane, and calculate their angles;
- Cluster to predict DEWS post-cracking behavior (only in Rhino 8).
