FDMremote is a twin package developed by the Digital Structures research group at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
It provides a comprehensive suite of Grasshopper components for the design, analysis, optimization, and fabrication of tensile (or compressive) networks based on the Force Density Method. For large networks and optimization, it relies on a sister package, FDMremote.jl .
Communication between the Julia server and the Grasshopper client is based on modifications to the Bengesht plugin developed by Behrooz Tahanzadeh.
This is an experimental release used for 4.S44: In Tension, a design workshop offered in January 2023 with Studio Echelman and SOM. Expect large changes after calibration and response to user feedback. Feedback from non-workshop attendees is encouraged and should be sent to the linked support email address.
