The goal of Bombyx is to allow for simplified whole building Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) of buildings during early design stages.

The current version focuses on the assessment of embodied impacts using the Swiss LCA database for building materials.

Coming soon:

• Form-based UI for element definition with data flow overhaul
• Expanded database support for other contexts

Bombyx2.1.0 features:

• Added macOS support: SQLite package updated and should now also work on Mac.
• Some quality-of-life fixes with input and output naming conventions.

Bombyx2.0.9 bug fixes:

• Duplicate "Data" component removed and received "OLD" tag in case it was used in previous projects
• "Energy Carrier" component fixes, should now only run once per GH canvas solution
• Added replacement to "Building Systems" component
• Various QoL fixes and improvements

Bombyx2.0.7 features and bug fixes:

• internet access no longer required (includes database)
• component outputs marked as "(text)" provide additional info for the users
• generating dropdown menu selections for easier usage
• new top-down functionality - Building level design

Installation:

Before installation, remove the any previous versions of Bombyx, then unzip the plugin into: %AppData%\Grasshopper\Libraries

Known issues:

• sometimes item selector does not save the selected item properly (quick fix is to use Item Selector from Human or Honeybee addon)
