ZEBRA is a set of tools to support and facilitate the design, simulation and realization of two and three-dimensional moiré animation installation. Additionally to traditional two-dimensional moiré animations, the above tools enable a novel approach which combines the depth of field and motion of the spectator to achieve a large-scale, analogue animation effect in three dimensions. The tools were established to aid the design of an interactive sculptural installation for a memorial in Cyprus which was completed in March 2017. They have been since been applied on academic projects and interactive applications. The output suits both visual and digital fabrication purposes.
Please reference a set of Closed Curves as frames, selecting them in the sequence you wish them to iterate. Open curves will not work with this component. The number of frames and their legibility greatly impacts the quality and speed of the animation. Non simplified curves will slow down the animation or crash the process, so please reduce the number fo control points of your curves.
