The Waterman Polyhedra plug-in for Rhino will allow you to Waterman Polyhedrons. A Waterman polyhedron is created by packing spheres, according to cubic close packing (CCP), then sweeping away the spheres that are farther from the center than a defined radius, then creating the convex hull of the resulting pack of spheres.

Waterman Polyhedra supports both 32-bit and 64-bit Rhinoceros 5 for Windows, and it requires SR9 or greater.

Waterman Polyhedra supports Rhinoceros 5 for Mac, and it requires 5.2 (5C250) or greater.

Waterman Polyhedra provides:

  1. A Rhino plug-in with two commands:
    1. WatermanPolyhedron - Creates Waterman polyhedron
    2. QuickHull - Creates a convex hull from selected points
  2. A Grasshopper plug-in with two components*:
    1. Waterman - Creates Waterman polyhedron
    2. QuickHull - Creates a convex hull from selected points

* For Rhino for Windows only. The Grasshopper components can be found in the Surfaces group.

Installation:

  • Download the plug-in installer.
  • For Rhino for Windows, the download is in Rhino Installer file (.RHI) form.
  • For Rhino for Mac, the download is in Rhino Installer file (.MACRHI) form.
  • Double-click in the file to launch the Rhino Installer and install the plug-in.
